THE MISSION of the Spruce Bark Beetle Mitigation Program is to help protect the lives and property of the residents of the Kenai Peninsula Borough by identifying and mitigating wildfire and other hazards related to spruce bark beetle-killed spruce, and to replant forests impacted by the spruce bark beetle outbreak.

The Personal Use Firewood Gathering Area at Aurora Ave in Kasilof has been closed indefinitely due to a major mechanical breakdown. As a result, we have no firewood available for the immediate future. Please see the Firewood section of this webpage for more information.
