Department functions include Coastal Management Program, material site permitting, floodplain permitting, and permitting for Anadromous Stream Habitat Protection Area.

Subdivision plats, vacation of rights-of-way and utility easements, etc. are handled by Platting staff. Borough land sales, classification of Borough land, leases of Borough land, etc., are conducted by the Land Management Division.
