THRU: Dale Bagley, Borough Mayor

FROM: Mark Fowler

DATE: September 14, 2000

SUBJECT: Resolution to Authorize Purchase of New Vehicles

On August 21, 2000, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for eleven (11) new 2001 vehicles: eight for the Maintenance Department and one each for Planning, Solid Waste, and Central Emergency Services. Our Request for Bids was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News on August 23, 2000. In an attempt to remove any bias toward brand loyalty, a pre-bid meeting was held on August 30, 2000. The feedback received were reviewed and, where applicable, incorporated into the specifications.

Three bid packages were submitted by local dealerships on the bid due date of September 11, 2000. To ensure that the minimum specifications were met, the appropriate departments and service area, as well as the Borough's head mechanic, carefully reviewed all bids. Attached is a copy of the recap sheet.
