SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 2000-012; AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR                       ROAD CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

The Finance Department solicited and received proposals for the above-referenced project on January 6, 2000. The invitations to submit proposals were advertised in the Peninsula Clarion, the Homer News and the Seward Phoenix Log. Four proposals were received. A summary of proposal evaluation results is attached. The proposal submitted by McLane Consulting Group scored highest.

The basic services consist of field survey work, civil design, construction contract administration and inspection for capital improvement projects on existing roads throughout the Road Service Area. Nineteen (19) projects on forty-five (45) roads totaling approximately fifteen (15) miles will be designed to improve drainage, modify the roadway subbase, and enhance the driving surface.

The funding for these projects is from the Road Service Area capital improvement budget. All expenditures for these projects will be charged to account number 434.33950.M5898, 434.33950.M5899 and 434.33950.M5800.

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract to McLane Consulting Group to perform the work of the basic services for the proposed amount of $74,846.05 plus an additional amount not to exceed $2,500.00 for reimbursable expenses.

The Road Service Area board meets February 8, 2000 and will consider the recommendation of award to McLane Consulting Group at that time.
