MEMORANDUM

TO: Timothy Navarre, Assembly President

Members, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly

THRU: Dale Bagley, Mayor

FROM: Jeffrey Sinz, Director of Finance

Mark Fowler, Purchasing and Materials Manager

DATE: April 18, 2001

SUBJECT: KENAI HEALTH CENTER RADIOGRAPHIC ROOM

The attached ordinance authorizes the Kenai Health Center Radiographic Room Equipment project, appropriates $120,000 from Central Peninsula Hospital Plant Expansion and Replacement Fund, and authorizes the purchase of the equipment from Siemens.

The original project budget for the Kenai Health Center did not include major furnishings or specialized medical equipment. Instead, it was anticipated that subsequent appropriation requests would be submitted once the major furnishing and equipping needs were identified. The attached ordinance would provide the necessary authorization and funding to proceed with equipping the Kenai Health Center's radiographic room.

The vendor selected by the hospital medical staff to provide the equipment, Siemens, is the same vendor selected to provide the hospital's CT Scanner. The hospital staff has further recommended that Siemens be the provider of all major radiographic equipment. The CPGH, Inc. Medical Director, Imaging Services Director and lead CT Technologist evaluated the product lines of 5 different manufacturers and determined that Siemens offered the best overall solutions for the hospitals radiographic needs.

The hospital operating board approved the attached resolution at their February 22, 2001 meeting. In addition, the hospital service area board approved the operating board's action at their March 19, 2001 meeting.

Shortened hearing is requested in order to avoid any delays in the scheduled opening of the entire Kenai Health Center.
