We are a combination department with full time employees and "on call" volunteers, funded through the Nikiski Fire Service Area, Kenai Peninsula Borough
Our Authorized Manning includes:
1 Chief
1 Assistant Chief
3 Battalion Chiefs
2 Captains
7 Engineer/Paramedics
4 Engineer/EMT ll
1 Administrative Assistant
2 Mechanics
25 "On-Call" Volunteers
The Nikiski Fire Service Area includes approximately 6,000 square miles. This is comparable to the size of the State of Connecticut (5,544 Square Miles). There is an average population of roughly 5,000 residents
The Nikiski area is home to various large industrial sites
Including
Conoco Phillips Liquid Natural Gas Facility, Tesoro Refinery, Agrium Nitrogen Products, BP Gas to Liquids Test Facility and
Off-Shore oil platforms
and land based storage/transfer facilities which are included in the Nikiski Fire Service Area. Nikiski Firefighters and EMS personnel work hand in hand with the Fire Brigades and Emergency Response Teams of local industry.
