SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-093, authorizing the mayor to negotiate the sole source purchase of specialty medical equipment for the Central Peninsula General Hospital expansion project

The attached resolution authorizes the Mayor or his designee, the Capital Projects Division to negotiate each sole source purchase and install the following types of equipment as shown on the attached list. (e.g., complete head wall systems, operating room boom/light systems, autoclaves, instrument washers, ultrasonic cleaners and dryers, pass thru doors, pharmacy storage equipment and patient lift system.) This list totals an estimated amount not to exceed $837,000.

The design team in conjunction with the medical staff within CPGH Inc. has evaluated the product lines of multiple manufacturers. Based on this extensive evaluation process the design team and CPGH Inc. have determined that manufacturers such as Hill-Rom, Steris, Berchtold SpaceSaver and Arjo, which are the leading manufacturers in the medical equipment field, offer the best overall solution for the hospital's needs. The attached letter from Mr. Lee J. Jackson of CPGH, Inc. states the hospital's justification for sole sourcing the above major medical equipment.

Funding is available in the CPGH bond capital project's budget. Expenditures for the project will be charged to account number 401.81111.04CHB.48516.
