SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-074 Authorizing Award of Contract for the Subscriber Radio Procurement
The Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited and opened proposals for this project on March 29, 2005. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on February 27, 2005. Two proposals were received and deemed responsive.
The purpose of the project is to purchase and install mobile, portable, and fixed control station radios for the public safety agencies of the Kenai Peninsula Borough. These radios must be compatible with existing agency VHF radio systems and provide a migration path to utilization of the State of Alaska Land Mobile Radio (ALMR) system.
A committee of individuals representing the Kenai Peninsula Borough and public safety agencies evaluated both proposals based on the criteria outlined in the request for proposals. Motorola Inc./ProComm Alaska LLC received the highest score as shown below:
Motorola, Inc./ProComm Alaska LLC 266
REVL Communications 251
The attached resolution requests authorization to award a contract to Motorola, Inc./ProComm Alaska LLC for a not-to-exceed cost of $860,633.52.
All expenditures for this project will be charged to account numbers 271.11250.5HMLS.48740, 271.11250.4HMLS.43260, and 271.11250.4HMLS.48740.
