SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-057, 2005 Capital Improvement Project: Running Water Avenue Bridge Replacement

The Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for the Running Water Avenue Bridge replacement road capital improvement projects on May 19, 2005. The invitations to bid were advertised in the Peninsula Clarion May 19, 23 & 26, 2005, and Homer News May 19 & 26, 2005. The bid due date is June 16, 2005. As authorized by KPB 22.40.050 (E), this resolution is submitted with blanks since the bids will not be received and opened prior to the packet closure date of June 9, 2005. This action is needed to allow this project to be completed this construction season.

This project will provide a new bridge across Crooked Creek, located on Running Water Avenue in the Kasilof area. This project is an approved CIP project of the Road Service Area Board and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly.

Funding for these contracts is available in the Road Service Area FY-2005 Capital Improvement Budget. All expenditures for the contracts will be charged to account number: 434.33950.05W02.43011.

The attached resolution requests award of contract for this work to the low responsible responsive qualified bidder for the total bid amount. The low responsive bid information will be provided to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly on June 21, 2005.
