SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-045, Authorizing the Borough to enter into a 5-year lease agreement with the Estate of Robert L. Plymire to extend the use and occupancy of the Borough's Satellite office in Homer.

The Borough has leased administrative office space in the Plymire Building on Pioneer Avenue in Homer since 1996. The Homer Office serves the Southern Peninsula with public information, assessing and mapping services. The office houses three borough employees, and is used intermittently by various visiting borough employees. The office serves as an Absentee Voting Office and a hub for all Southern Peninsula voting precincts. However, the current lease at the Plymire Building expires on June 30, 2005.

The borough went out competitively through a request for proposals for the lease of office space in Homer. The RFP was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on April 19, 2005 and the Homer News on April 21, 2005. One proposal was received and considered responsive. The Estate of Robert L. Plymire was the successful respondent with a proposal to re-lease the same facility as we currently occupy. The proposal results in an increase in rent of $100.00 per month, set for a 5 year period.

The attached resolution would authorize the Kenai Peninsula Borough to enter into a lease 5-year lease agreement with the Estate of Robert L. Plymire.

The administration respectfully requests your consideration of this Resolution.
