SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-042, Award of Construction Services For the Redoubt Elementary & Soldotna High School Fire Detection & Alarm System Project

The Purchasing and Contracting Department solicited and opened bids for this capital project on May 4, 2005. Two bids were received and are recorded in the bid tabulation attached. The Invitation to Bid was published in the Anchorage Daily News on April 7, 2005 and the Peninsula Clarion on April 7 and 12, 2005, Homer News and the Seward Phoenix Log on April 7 and 14, 2005.

The project consists of installation of fire detection system in Redoubt Elementary and completing the fire detection system in Soldotna High School. Work is anticipated to be complete by August 1, 2005.

The attached resolution requests award of contract for this work to Quality Electric LLC, for the base bid and total bid of $150,000.00.

Funding for this project is from the Capital Improvement Projects budget. Expenditures for Redoubt Elementary Fire Detection System will be charged to account 400.76040.8564A.49101 and all expenditures for the Soldotna High School Fire Alarm will be charged to account 400.76020.8564B.49101.
