SUBJECT; Resolution 2005-034 regarding Coastal Zone Management

Yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to listen in to the Committee hearing concerning SB 102. I was sorry that the Committee would not move the bill.

At this time theer is allowed only 21 days for public review of what is a very drastic change in policies, and that truly does not give enough time for all of our Coastal Areas to do a careful review, in light of how it could impact them.

The department has opposed any extension of time, and that concerns me. I enclose a copy of the article from the Juneau Empire dated today. I think it covers it well.

In light of the Assembly historic support of the Coastal Zone program, I ask your support of this resolution so that our voice can join others of the state.
