SUBJECT: Resolution 2005-014, Authorizing Award of Contract to Produce Community Wildfire Protection Plans

The Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited and opened proposals for this project on February 1, 2005. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on January 12 and 16, 2005. Four proposals were received and deemed responsive.

The purpose of the project is to complete Goal 4 (Community Assistance) of the "All Lands/All Hands Action Plan" and develop Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) for nine borough community groupings with a wildfire risk rating of "Extreme". These plans will be developed using the steps outlined in "Preparing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan", a Handbook for Wildland-Urban Interface Communities.

A committee of individuals representing the Kenai Peninsula Borough and the Spruce Bark Beetle Mitigation Project evaluated all proposals based on the criteria outlined in the request for proposals. Ecology & Environmental, Inc. received the highest score as shown below:

The attached resolution requests award of the contract to Ecology & Environmental, Inc. for a not-to-exceed cost of $103,963.00.
