SUBJECT: Resolution 2004-110; Authorizing Award of Contracts for the Purchase of Four New Fleet Replacement Vehicles for FY2005

On October 7, 2004, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for four new replacement vehicles: two for the Maintenance Department; one for Planning/Land Management; and one for the Nikiski Fire Service Area. Our Invitation To Bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News on October 10, 2004.

On the due date of November 3, 2004, four (4) bids were received. All bids were deemed responsive and were carefully reviewed to ensure that minimum specifications were met. Attached is a copy of the bid tabulation sheet.

Based on the above and contingent upon delivery within the time frame specified in our bid forms, it is our recommendation that the following bids be accepted and that purchase orders be issued as follows:

Hutchings Chevrolet

(2 ea) 1-Ton Cargo Vans for Maintenance Dept. $ 24,834.15

Total: $ 49,668.30

Kenai Chrysler Center, Inc.

(1ea) 1-ton 4x4 crew cab pick-up, 6-ft bed, diesel, for Nikiski Fire Dept. $ 32,247.00

(1ea) �-ton 4x4 crew cab pickup, 6-ft bed, for Planning Dept. $ 20,392.00

Total: $ 52,639.00

Funding for these vehicles is available in the following accounts:

Equipment Replacement Fund Account No. 705-00000-00000-18440 for Maintenance and Planning/Land Management.

Capital Project Account No. 441.51111.05111.48310 for Nikiski Fire Service Area.
