Subject: Resolution 2004-103; Authorizing the Mayor to Enter into a Lease Agreement with the USDA Forest Service for the Cooper Mountain Communication Site to Support Emergency Management Communications Equipment

The Kenai Peninsula Borough owns and operates communications equipment at the Cooper Mountain Communications Site near Cooper Landing. This site is owned by the USDA Forest Service and managed by the Seward Ranger District. The KPB Office of Emergency Management applied to the Seward Ranger District for authorization to operate and maintain the KPB equipment at this site. The Seward Ranger District prepared a lease to authorize KPB's use of the site.

This resolution authorizes the mayor to enter into the lease agreement prepared by the Forest Service. The lease expires on December 31, 2023 and rental fees have been waived because of the public safety nature of the Borough's use of the site.
