SUBJECT: Resolution 2004-090, Authorizing Award of a Contract for Vehicle Maintenance Services.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited and opened proposals for vehicle maintenance services for Central Emergency Services on August 24, 2004. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on August 8 & 10, 2004. One proposal was received from Raven Contractors.

This contract consists of all normal duties associated with providing vehicle maintenance services for emergency vehicle apparatus as well as emergency repairs and emergency call-out after hours as needed. This contract provides a fee structure for normal preventative and scheduled maintenance for light duty and heavy duty fire department vehicles, and auxiliary equipment. It also provides a fee structure for emergency repairs and after hours call-out on an as-needed basis. The annual cost of this contract for the period of October 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005 is estimated to total $77,000.00.

The contract covers the period from October 1, 2004 through June 30, 2007 subject to appropriation of funds for each fiscal year. With mutual agreement, one additional two-year extension may be awarded.

The Board of Directors for the Central Emergency Service Area met on August 31, 2004 and recommended awarding the contract to Raven Contractors. Raven Contractors have been providing this service to Central Emergency Services for the past few years.

All expenditures for this project will be charged to account number 211.51610.43750.
