SUBJECT: Resolution 2004-085, maintenance agreement for flashing beacon

Nikiski Fire Service Area

The Nikiski Fire Service Area Board requested that the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities install a flashing beacon at Mile 26.5 of the North Kenai Spur Road adjacent to the Nikiski Fire Service Area station. The beacon is needed to notify the public when an emergency vehicle is exiting the station to help improve safety. The Department of Transportation has tentatively agreed to provide and install the flashing beacon provided that the borough maintain and operate the beacon and indemnify the State from claims relating to the operation of the beacon. Your support of this resolution would be appreciated.
