Central Peninsula Landfill Fencing

The Purchasing and Contracting Office solicited and opened bids for the above referenced project on June 17, 2004. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion, Seward Phoenix Log, and Homer News.

Four bids were received and Acme Fence Co. Inc. from Anchorage, Alaska submitted the lowest cost qualified and responsive bid of $138,178.90.

Acme Fence Co. Inc. $138,178.90

Wolverine Supply, Inc. $152,600.00

McKinley Fence Co. of Alaska, Inc. $161,965.00

AAA Fence, Inc. $154,551.00

The work consists of installing approximately 7,000 linear feet of chain link fence and gates at the Central Peninsula Landfill. The perimeter fencing will be installed along the Sterling Highway, a section of Arc Loop Road, and along the south side of the landfill expansion area, to restrict access to the new lined landfill development currently under construction and the existing landfill that is scheduled to be closed in 2005.

The attached resolution requests approval for award of contract for this work. Funding is available in the solid waste bond capital projects budget and the solid waste landfill closure budget. Expenditures for the project will be divided equally between accounts 401.32122.03SWB and 290.25110.
