SUBJECT: Resolution 2004-___, Authorizing Award of Contract for the Central Peninsula General Hospital Phase 1, Site Development

The Purchasing and Contracting Office solicited and opened bids for the above-referenced project on June 2, 2004. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion, the Homer News, the Seward Phoenix Log and the Anchorage Daily News. Four bids were received. Zubeck, Inc. submitted the low responsive bid of $589,410. (Base bid plus isolated unit items which covers the potential cost of shut downs and additional excavation and imports.)

The work consists of furnishing all labor, materials and equipment for clearing, grubbing, rough grading, demolition, water line installation, new parking lot, and excavation in preparation for the construction of a new addition. The work consists of approximately 20,000 cy excavation, 8,500 cy import material, 550 ton AC pavement work, associated PCC, curb and gutter. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete within 105 calendar days after Notice to Proceed.

Funding is available in the CPGH bond capital projects budget. Expenditures for the project will be charged to account number 401.81111.04CHB.49101.

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract for this work to the low responsive bidder for the bid amount.
