SUBJECT: Resolution 2004-045, Authorizing Award of Contract for the Seward Middle School Phase 2 Site Finishing & Building Construction.

The Purchasing and Contracting Office solicited and opened bids for the above-referenced project on April 20, 2004. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Anchorage Daily News on March 1^st, and in the Peninsula Clarion on March 2^nd & 9^th and in the Homer News and the Seward Phoenix Log on March 4^th and 11^th. Five bids were received and are recorded on the attached bid tabulation. The low responsive bid of $9,6880,000.00 was submitted by G&S Construction.

The Work consists of furnishing all labor, materials and equipment for site finishing, and building construction of the new 37,490 SF Seward Middle School. Work is anticipated to be substantially complete Prior to August 2005, however the final completion date is December 2005.

Funding is available in the school bond capital projects budget. Expenditures for the project will be charged to account number 401.75030.03SEW.49101

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract for this work to the low responsive bidder for the bid amount.
