The Purchasing and Contracting Office solicited and opened bids for this project on November 25, 2003. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Anchorage Daily News and Peninsula Clarion, on October 23 and 30, and the Homer News and Seward Log on October 23, 2003.
59 companies requested and received copies of the RFP. Six responsive proposals were received on November 25, 2003. The Evaluation Committee members individually reviewed and scored the proposals based on criteria contained in the RFP. The results are summarized as follows:
Company Total Score
Architects Alaska 506.01

Soderstrom Architecture and Planning, Inc. was the high scorer and was selected to provide professional and design services for this project. The funding for this award is through KPB Ordinance 2003-19-28, which appropriates $1,500,000 for preliminary design of the Central Peninsula General Hospital Expansion Project. The second half of the design award will follow once the balance of project funding is appropriated through an Ordinance to be introduced when the bond sale is complete.
The attached Resolution requests award of contract for preliminary design development to Soderstrom Architects for the proposed fee of $761,096.00.
