THRU: Dale Bagley, Borough Mayor
FROM: Mark Fowler, Purchasing & Contracting Officer
DATE: December 4, 2003
SUBJECT: Resolution 2003-125, Authorizing Award of a Contract for the Purchase of a Rescue Pumper for Bear Creek Fire Service Area
On September 5, 2003, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for a Rescue Pumper on behalf of the Bear Creek Fire Service Area. The Invitation To Bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News on September 14, 2003. By the due date of November 4, 2003, eighteen firms had received the bid documents; however, only one bid was submitted to the borough. The bid package was reviewed thoroughly by the Bear Creek Fire Chief and his staff to ensure that all minimum specifications were met.
At a special meeting held on December 1, 2003, the Bear Creek Fire Service Area Board approved this purchase and accepted the bid from W. S. Darley & Co. for a not-to-exceed amount of $444,607.
Funding is available from a State of Alaska Grant in the amount of $125,000 (account no. 442.51210.03065) and from a Bear Creek Fire Service Area Capital Projects allocation for the purchase of a new engine in the amount of $319,607 (account no. 442.51210.03421).
