MEMORANDUM
TO: Pete Sprague, Assembly President
Members, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly
FROM: Milli Martin, Assembly Member
DATE: September 4, 2003
SUBJECT: Resolution 2003-105, supporting the Homer Soil and Water Conservation District's 2004 state recreation trail grant application
This resolution is submitted in response to a request from the Homer Soil and Water Conservation District for borough support of a grant application to plan, design, construct, and maintain a trailhead for the Caribou Lake Trail Project. An increasing number of private cabins are located in the area accessed by the Caribou Lake trails. This has resulted in a significant increase in the number of trail users. A trailhead for the Caribou Lake trails is sorely needed. It is anticipated that the State will own the easement, and the Homer Snomads and the Homer Soil and Water Conservation District will jointly manage and maintain the trail and the trailhead. This resolution would support the Homer Soil and Water Conservation District's application for a state grant to fund the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of such a trailhead. Your support of this resolution would be appreciated.
