SUBJECT: Resolution 2003-103, Award of Professional Services for the

Kachemak Emergency Service Area Fire Station

The Purchasing and Contracting Officer solicited and opened proposals for this project on August 29, 2003. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Anchorage Daily News, Peninsula Clarion, Homer News, and the Seward Phoenix Log on July 31 and August 7, 2003.

The project consists of the normal duties associated with design development of a fire station, including construction document phase, bidding phase, and construction phase. These services will be based upon a previously developed Master Plan and Schematic Design.

Three proposals were received. The attached resolution requests award of contract for this work to Bezik Durst Seiser as the high point firm for the amount of $109,352.

The Kachemak Emergency Service Area Board met at its regular meeting on September 4, 2003, and recommend award of contract to Bezik Durst Seiser. The project is partially funded through a grant from the Denali Commission, who will also review and approve the contract with the design firm.

All expenditures for this project will be charged to account number 446.51810.03BTK.49311 and 49313.
