SUBJECT: Resolution 2003-075 setting the mill rate for the Lowell Point Emergency Service Area

The purpose of this resolution is to establish a mill rate for taxes levied to fund the Lowell Point Emergency Service Area, which was approved by the voters on June 10, 2003. The ordinance establishing this service area provided for a mill rate not to exceed 1.75 mills unless increased in the budgetary process. According to Alaska Statutes, in order for a mill rate to be effective for tax year 2003, it must be determined prior to June 15.

The assembly has been asked to certify the election results at a special meeting to be held on June 13, 2003. Assuming the election results are certified, then this resolution is ripe for consideration.
