SUBJ: Resolution 2003-061, Urging Full Federal Funding for the Traumatic Brain Injury Act for FY 2004

At the request of Kenai resident Richard Warrington, I am sponsoring a resolution urging Congress to fully fund the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Act, Public Law 104-166, for Fiscal Year 2004. Mr. Warrington represents the Kenai Peninsula on the State Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board.

According to Mr. Warrington, there are more than 6,000 reported TBI victims in Alaska, and over 500,000 nationwide. The TBI Act provides funding to develop and implement programs to promote prevention and to expand treatment and services delivery to Alaskans who experience a traumatic brain injury.

Those who want more information about TBI are invited by Mr. Warrington to attend a barbecue and the Seventh Annual Brain Awareness Walk through the City of Kenai on Saturday, May 31.
