SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 2003-059, Authorizing the purchase of a Type 1 Certified Ambulance for the Nikiski Fire Service Area
On February 5, 2003, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for a Type 1 KKK-A-1822D Certified Ambulance with Ford 4x4 Walk-Thru Chassis for the Nikiski Fire Service Area. Our Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News on February 7, 2003. Bid packets were sent to a total of five vendors.
Two bids were received on the due date of March 20, 2003. To ensure that minimum specifications were met, both bids were carefully reviewed by the Fire Chief and his mechanic, and one was deemed non-responsive.
The Nikiski Fire Service Area Board has unanimously agreed to award the purchase of this ambulance to United Fire Service, Inc. at the cost of $143,286.00. Funds are available in Nikiski Fire Department Capital Projects Account No. 441.51111.03411.48514.
