Subject: Resolution 2003-048, Award of a Contract for Construction Services for the Sears Elementary School Fire Alarm System

As you will recall, approval by the City of Kenai Fire Marshal of last summer's Renovation Project at Sears Elementary School was contingent upon upgrading the existing fire alarm system prior to the start of the 2003-2004 school year.

Per the Fire Marshal's stipulation, a design of a new, ADA and code compliant fire alarm system has been accomplished, and the project has been put out to bid for construction this summer.

Bids were solicited and received by the Purchasing Department, and the lowest responsive, responsible bidder was Statewide Electric, Inc., of Soldotna Alaska, with a total bid amount of $90,000.00.

Funding for this project will be from account number 401.73040.00SFA.49101 (from unexpended bond proceeds as approved by Kenai Peninsula Borough Ordinance 2002-19-38).

Please consider the attached Resolution 2003-______, authorizing award to Statewide Electric, Inc., of Soldotna, Alaska. Actual award will be contingent upon approval of the project application (currently under review) by the Department of Education and Early Development,
