MEMORANDUM

TO: Pete Sprague, Assembly President

Members, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly

THRU: Dale Bagley, Mayor

FROM: Max Best, Planning Director

Paul Ostrander, Land Management Officer

Jeff Tucker, Chief, Central Emergency Services

Colette Thompson, Borough Attorney

DATE: January 9, 2003

SUBJECT: Resolution 2003-005, authorizing the lease of garage space for storing Central Emergency Service Area equipment

Central Emergency Services requires a heated storage facility to store two fire engines, one tanker, one ambulance, and two boats. After a search of the area, the service area located one storage facility available that met the necessary criteria. The facility provides 3,800 square feet and is located near the Sterling CES station.

CES only needs this facility for six months and began using it November 17, 2002, following approval by the mayor. Due to the short-term nature of this arrangement, the administration did not initially bring this to the assembly for approval. However, upon further review it was determined assembly approval should be sought. Your approval of this agreement would be appreciated.
