RE: Resolution 2002- 136, Award of Professional Engineering Services for Soldotna Middle School Remodel Project

The Finance Department solicited and opened proposals for this project on October 22, 2002. The Request for Proposals was advertised in the Anchorage Daily News, Peninsula Clarion, Homer News, and the Seward Phoenix Log on September 19 and 26, 2002.

The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to create a schematic design to reconfigure Soldotna Middle School to increase the number of classrooms. These services will consist of preparation of schematic design documents, including drawings (based on existing facility survey and needs of the owner), outline specification and preliminary cost estimate, as well as other documents necessary to show the extent of work based on the selected construction program. The schematic design shall also include a complete sprinkler system for the entire facility. The plans will be developed in sufficient detail to demonstrate coordination of the different building components.

The attached Project RFP Evaluation Sheet lists the responding firms. Four proposals were received and were graded per the attached Evaluation. The appended resolution requests award of contract for this work to Kluge & Associates, as the high point firm, for the base bid and reimbursable amount of $57,052.

All expenditures for this project will be charged to account number 400.76030.02RCF.49311 and 49313.
