SUBJECT: Resolution for Award of 12 Fleet Replacement Vehicles for FY2003

On September 19, 2002, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids for twelve new replacement vehicles (nine for the Maintenance Department and one each for Roads Service Area, Nikiski Fire Service Area, and Central Emergency Services). Our Invitation To Bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News on September 20, 2002 and bid packets were distributed to eight new car dealerships, including the four local dealerships.

On the due date of October 23, 2002, three bids were received from the local dealerships. To ensure that minimum specifications were met, all bids were carefully reviewed by the appropriate department head and mechanic. Attached is a copy of the recap sheet.

I recommend that the bids from Great Bear Ford be accepted and that a purchase order be issued for the following:

- (1ea) 1-ton 4x4 pick-up, ext. cab, 8 ft cargo bed Nikiski Fire Service Area $33,025.00

- (1ea) �-ton 4x4 pick-up, ext. cab, 6 ft cargo bed Roads Service Area $24,100.00

- (1ea) �-ton 4x4 pick-up, ext. cab, 6 ft cargo bed Maintenance Department $22,985.00

- (2ea) �-ton 4x4 pick-up, ext. cab, 8 ft cargo bed Maintenance Department $24,325.00/ea

- (6ea) 1-ton cargo van Maintenance Department $26,165.00/ea

Funds are available in Capital Project Account #443.51611.00000.48514 for Central Emergency Services, Capital Project Account #441.51111.00000.48310 for Nikiski Fire Service Area, and Equipment Replacement Fund Account #705.00000.00000.18420 for Roads Service Area and Maintenance.
