SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 2002-124; MOOSE PASS ELEMENTARY ROOF REPLACEMENT

The roof replacement project at Moose Pass School, which is funded through the state debt reimbursement bond, includes the gymnasium, the kitchen and the classroom wing. Because of unexpected problems with the existing roof drain system in the classroom wing, the project was divided into two phases. Phase One, comprising kitchen and gymnasium, was completed this summer. Phase Two, comprising the classroom wing, requires design of additional internal roof drains and a drywell. An additional roof area of the classroom wing (approximately 1,050 square feet) has also been included in the project.

As a result of these circumstances, there is a need for additional funding of $50,000 for the Moose Pass Roof Replacement project. Additional funding is available for transfer from account no. 401.76010.00RF6 Soldotna Elementary School Roof Replacement, which was completed last year under budget.

The attached Resolution requests authorization for the Mayor to transfer $50,000 in account no. 401.76010.00RF6 to account no. 401.71070.00RF2, thereby increasing the appropriation from $143,505 to $193,505 for the Moose Pass Elementary School Roof Replacement project.

Phase Two of the Moose Pass project is scheduled for design this fall and construction next summer.
