SUBJECT: Resolution 2002-120 ; Award of Contract for Operations and Maintenance of the Kenai, Nikiski and Sterling Transfer Facilities

The Finance Department solicited and opened bids for Operations and Maintenance of the Kenai, Nikiski and Sterling Transfer Facilities on September 23, 2002. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion, Seward Phoenix Log and Homer News. Four bids were received.

The lowest cost qualified and responsive bidder was D&L Construction Co., Inc. with an estimated yearly bid amount of $355,480.

The base bid consists of operating, maintaining and hauling waste from three solid waste transfer facilities. The contract commences January 1, 2003 and extends to December 31, 2005. At the Borough's option, and contractor's agreement, the contract can be renewed for up to two additional years.

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract for this work. The funding for the project is from the solid waste operating budget. Expenditures for the project will be charged to account number 290.32570.43011.
