SUBJECT: Resolution 2002-108; Resolution Supporting the Central Peninsula Landfill Expansion Project and Identifying the Project as the Number One Priority Solid Waste Major Capital Project of Fiscal Year 2003

The attached resolution is being submitted to the Assembly for its support of the Central Peninsula Landfill Expansion project and identifying the project as the Borough's number one priority solid waste major capital project for purposes of applying for grant funding.

Preliminary expansion design is almost complete and it is the Borough's intent to apply for Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Municipal Matching Grants, and other grants if available.

The ADEC grant application period ends on September 13, 2002. The project will receive higher points if the application is accompanied by evidence that the local municipality has identified the project as a number one local priority.
