SUBJECT: SUMMER & WINTER ROAD MAINTENANCE - CENTRAL & SOUTH REGIONS

The Finance Department solicited proposals for the above-referenced contracts and bid opening will be held on June 10, 2002. The requests for proposals were advertised in the Peninsula Clarion and Homer News. A separate proposal for each unit was required.

Single proposals were submitted for Central Region Units 1, 2, 2A, 4, and 5 and for South Region Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9. In Central Region _____ proposals were received for Unit 1, _____ proposals were received for Unit 2, _____ proposals were received for Unit 2A, _____ proposals were received for Unit 4, and _____ proposals were received for Unit 5. In South Region _____ proposals were received for Unit 1, _____ proposals were received for Unit 2, _____ proposals were received for Unit 3, _____ proposals were received for Unit 4, _____ proposals were received for Unit 7, _____ proposals were received for Unit 8, and _____ proposals were received for Unit 9. Proposals were evaluated and the Road Service Area (RSA) board on ________________ made a recommendation to the administration and assembly for award of contracts. The proposals recommended are fair and reasonable, and the contractors are qualified to perform the work of the contract.

The scope of work consists of providing all labor, materials and equipment to perform summer and winter road maintenance in response to call out by Road Service Area personnel. The term of the contract commences on the date the contract is executed and extends until June 30, 2003.

Funding for these contracts is available in the Road Service Area FY-2003 operational budget and all expenditures for the contracts will be charged to account number 236.33950.46910.

This memorandum requests Award of Contract to the following contractors for the following units:
