MEMORANDUM

TO: Members, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly

FROM: Timothy Navarre, Assembly President

Pete Sprague, Assembly Member

Bill Popp, Assembly Member

DATE: May 9, 2002

SUBJECT: Resolution 2002-068 regarding the Kenai River Comprehensive Management Plan and the Borough's Comprehensive Plan

Please find a resolution supporting use of the Kenai River Comprehensive Management Plan (KRCMP) as a tool in development of the Kenai Peninsula Borough's comprehensive plan. The KRCMP was adopted in 1997 and applies to state lands in the Kenai River Watershed. The borough has selected land adjacent to many of these state holdings. The Planning Commission is in the early stages of developing the comprehensive plan and will likely consider the KRCMP and many other planning documents. This resolution is intended to clarify the Assembly's support of the planning commission's use of the KRCMP as a tool in developing the comprehensive plan. In undertaking a review of the borough's comprehensive plan the KRCMP should be used as a guideline to the extent applicable and consistent with the borough's own laws, policies, and goals.
