SUBJECT: Resolution 2002-053, Award of Construction Services For The Kenai Central High School Insulation Project

This is a Grant funded project administered by the State of Alaska, Department of Education & Early Development. The Finance Department solicited opened bids for this capital project on April 25, 2002. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on 4/3,10,17; Homer News, and the Seward Phoenix Log on 4/4 & 11; and the Anchorage Daily News on 3/29, 4/3 & 10, 2002. Two bids were received and are recorded on the attached tabulation sheet.

The project consists of increasing the insulation value of approximately 635 lineal feet of wall with an additional 132 lineal feet of wall as an additive alternate #1. Additive alternate #2 is custom paint to match existing.

The work includes: removal of the existing curtain walls, abatement of the existing CAB panels, installation of new thermal broke store front and insulated metal panels, and re-use of some ancillary equipment. Work is anticipated to be complete by August 15, 2002.

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract for this work to Holden Company for the base bid for a total bid amount of $346,432.00.

The funding for this project is from the Capital Improvement Projects budget. All expenditures for this project will be charged to account number 400.73020.02ISL.
