SUBJECT: Resolution 2002-043, Award of Professional Design Services for

Redoubt Elementary School Storage Addition Project

The Finance Department solicited and opened bids for this capital project on March 29, 2002. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion (March 15, 18, 20 2002), Homer News (March 14, 21 2002), Seward Phoenix Log (March 14, 21 2002).

Five firms requested and received copies of the RFP. Three responsive proposals were received on March 29, 2002. The four evaluation committee members individually reviewed and scored the proposals. The results were tabulated on April 2, 2002 and the results are summarized as follows:

Enterprise Engineering Composite Score 96.8225

Kluge & Associates Composite Score * 92.7600

Mike Tauriainen Composite Score * 94.7650

NOTE: *Includes 5% Local Preference Policy calculations.

Enterprise Engineering Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, was the high scorer and was selected to provide professional design services for this project. The professional design services includes design services for new storage addition of approximately 2,000 square feet The work will involve foundation, structural, mechanical and electrical, as well as architectural and related building design.

The funding for this project is through KPB Ordinance 2001-19-30, which appropriated funds from the general fund balance towards this project. The attached Resolution requests award of contract to Enterprise Engineering Inc. for the proposed fixed fee amount of $30,725.00 and estimated reimbursements of $1,813.00 for a total of $32,538.00.
