MEMORANDUM

TO: Timothy Navarre, Assembly President

Members of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly

THRU: Dale Bagley, Borough Mayor

Tom Burgess, Purchasing and Materials Manager

FROM: Richard Campbell, General Services Director

DATE: December 26, 2001

On December 3, 2001, the Kenai Peninsula Borough solicited bids from qualified vendors for the purchase of networking components to upgrade the capacity of the Borough enterprise network. This purchase is scheduled to be the last phase of a three-phase acquisition that will upgrade the network capacity and utility at both the Borough Administration Building and the Poppy Lane Maintenance facility. Phases 1 and 2 focus on enhancing both network infrastructures while Phase 3 upgrades and migrates the telephone system at Poppy Lane into the data network.

Our Request for Bids was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on December 4, 2001 and bid packets were sent to a total of ten vendors. Two bid packages were received by the due date of December 20, 2001 and were carefully reviewed to ensure that all specifications were met. Attached is a copy of the recap sheet.

The low bid of $52,508.11 was submitted by Alaska Communications Systems. I recommend that the bid be awarded and that a purchase order be issued to Alaska Communications Systems. Funds are available in General Services Account No. 100.11230.48120.
