KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
RESOLUTION 99-018

A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CARIBOU HILLS CABIN

HOPPERS' EFFORTS AND GRANT APPLICATION

WHEREAS, the Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers (CHCH) is a snow machine club that has approximately 270 members who maintain and groom snow machine trails in the Caribou Hills for the public, skijorers, dog mushers, and cross-country skiers; and

WHEREAS, CHCH is applying for a $30,000 recreational trails grant which is part of a federal program; and

WHEREAS, the grant money would be used to help maintain trails and build bridges; and

WHEREAS, there has been an increase in the need for trail maintenance due to spruce bark beetle killed trees falling across the trails;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:

SECTION 1. That the assembly supports the CHCH trail maintenance and grooming efforts and believes CHCH would be a worthy recipient of a recreational trails grant.

SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution shall be sent to Ron Crenshaw, Program Administrator, Recreational Trails Grant Program, State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation, 3601 C Street, Suite 1200, Anchorage, AK 99503-5921.

SECTION 3. That this resolution takes effect immediately upon its enactment.

ADOPTED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH THIS 16TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1999.

Ronald Wm. Drathman, Assembly President
