Operations and Maintenance Contract


The Finance Department solicited and received bids for this project. The Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion, Homer News, and Seward Phoenix Log.

The lowest cost qualified and responsive bidder was Peninsula Sanitation with a yearly estimated bid in the amount of One Hundred Seventy Two Thousand Three Hundred Fifty Five Dollars and Fifty Eight Cents ($172,355.58).

The work includes all labor, equipment and materials necessary to operate and maintain drop-box sites located in the eastern and central areas of the peninsula, and the hauling of waste and recyclables to the Central Peninsula Baling/Landfill Facility.

The work shall commence on March 1, 1999 and, subject to assembly or mayor approval and assembly appropriation, extend through February 28, 2002. At the Borough's option, and with contractor's agreement, the contract can be renewed for up to two additional years.
