SUBJECT: Ordinance No. 2004-19-19: Accepting and appropriating a state grant for purchase of a tanker truck for the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area

The Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area has established the purchase of a tanker truck as one of its capital priorities. The new truck would replace their 1964 tanker, which is unreliable and often breaks down before reaching the fire scene. A request for funding of a tanker truck was included in the Borough's 2004 legislative priorities.

Funding for the project was included in Senate Bill 283, which was passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor in July 2004. The State Department of Community and Economic Development has notified the Borough of the availability of $70,000 for this project. If additional funds are needed, the Service Area has monies available in the equipment replacement fund for this purchase.

A public hearing date of November 16 has been requested. The Service Area board is scheduled to meet on October 25. Acceptance of the grant will be on their meeting agenda. The results of the board meeting action will be provided to the Assembly on or before November 16.
