SUBJECT: Ordinance 2003-19-31, appropriating funds to be received from the State of Alaska Division of Emergency Services to reimburse the borough for costs incurred in responding to the flooding occurring between October 23, 2002 and November 12, 2002.
The borough has received notice of award and project funding approval from the State of Alaska Division of Emergency Services for costs incurred in responding to the October and November 2002 floods. Funding sources consist of 75 percent passed-through funds from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and a 25 percent State match. The revenue received will reimburse the borough for costs incurred in responding to the flooding occurring between October 23, 2002 and November 12, 2002.
The ordinance appropriates funds reimbursing costs incurred by the road service area and the maintenance department in responding and repairing borough infrastructure damaged by flooding. The borough has identified $1,181,676.97 in total costs incurred responding and recovering from the flooding. Ordinance 2003-19-04 previously appropriated $584,840.44. This ordinance appropriates the balance of the cost incurred by the borough in responding to the flooding totaling, $596,836.53.
