Land Exchange with the City of Soldotna |
A permanent site for the Kenai River Center has been identified on an 8+ acre
parcel of land located near the Soldotna Airport on the bank of the Kenai River. The
parcel is owned by the City of Soldotna. Upon filing the final subdivision plat, the City
will convey the site to the Borough.
The City of Soldotna desires to obtain the former DOT/PF Soldotna Maintenance site as an
addition to its Soldotna Creek Park. The proposed exchange provides that the Borough will
authorize the State of Alaska to debit the Borough's municipal entitlement to allow the
City of Soldotna to acquire the DOT/PF site.
The ordinance is proposed to be heard under a shortened hearing in that the ground
breaking ceremony is scheduled for July 9, 1999 in conjunction with the Kenai River
Classic. Bids for construction of the new Kenai River Center will be awarded in July 1999,
and the July 13, 1999, meeting is scheduled for Seldovia making it costly and inconvenient
for Soldotna residents to attend the Assembly meeting.
