SUBJECT: ORDINANCE 99-12, AMENDING APPENDIX A "ROAD
CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS" ADOPTED UNDER KPB 14.06, ROAD STANDARDS
The road service area is currently in the process of reviewing some of its policies, in
order to provide clarification for the public and to facilitate the administration of the
borough's road maintenance program. In the course of the review, the road service area
recognized the need for some modification of the road standards currently in effect.
Current road standards prohibit acceptance of roads for maintenance after September 1
of each year. Expanding the time frame for acceptance to October 15 will better correlate
with the construction season.
The requirement of a roadside clear of hazardous objects or conditions for distance
consistent with the speed, traffic volume, and geometric conditions of the site will
promote traffic safety and aid road maintenance.
On February 9, 1999 the road service area board adopted Resolution 99-01 supporting the
introduction and enactment of an ordinance amending Appendix A "Road Construction
Standards" adopted under KPB 14.06, Road Standards, for the purpose of addressing
these issues.
